Many mothers choose to feed their babies a combination of breast milk and formula, particularly after they go back to work.

It can be tricky to get a baby who is used to breast feeding to drink from a bottle. The sucking motion required is different, and that’s why some children struggle. However, if you make sure that the teat is warmed, and you ask someone else to feed your baby this way the first few times, he or she should get used to the idea. The reason you want to avoid bottle feeding your baby the first few times is that you have a very distinct smell, and your baby will know well it’s mummy!

Do remember that the less you breastfeed, the less milk you will produce, so if you still want to feed your baby breast milk sometimes, it’s important that you keep expressing in order to keep the supply up.
