Tom and Kate Evans experienced a heartbreaking loss when their son Alfie passed away in April.

The twenty-three-month old was in a coma for over a year after he contracted a mystery illness. Doctors said he had a type of degenerative neurological condition that they could not diagnose.

The parents had appealed twice to bring their son from Alder Hey Children's Hospital to Rome so he could receive treatment, but unfortunately lost both cases.

Tuesday marked the four-month anniversary of their beloved boy’s passing, and his father penned a heartwarming message.

“4 months today you gained your wings buddie. The pain and heartache gets worse everyday.

“I love you so so much and miss you [in] the world, until we meet again buddie. I love you forever.”

But after a tough year of heartbreak and grief, the couple have some exciting news…

Tom and Kate are overjoyed to announce that they've welcomed a baby boy into the world.

A source told The Sun that “Kate knew she was pregnant in Alfie’s final few weeks and wanted to keep it quiet so she could give her all to Alfie.

“She and Tom are delighted with their new arrival. He’s doing a great job of giving them something to focus on while they grieve.”

Because of Alfie’s high profile case, many public figures had spoken out to the family and expressed their condolences at his passing.

And now, many have taken to social media to express their joyful congratulations to the young couple.

Rebekah Vardy, wife of footballer Jamie Vardy, tweeted: “Congratulations to Tom & Kate on the birth of your baby. You deserve all the happiness in the world.”

The parents are said to have named their newborn son Thomas after his father.

We also give all our love to the Evans family and congratulate them on the birth of their baby boy.
