Kristi Warriner has said that her wedding to Justin Nelson was not a dream wedding, “it was even better.”

The couple tied the knot in the neonatal intensive care unit at Cook Children’s Medical Centre in Fort Worth so that their 11-week-old son JJ could also be a part of the day.

JJ was born premature at 25 weeks, weighing just one pound, 13 ounces on September 2 last. Now, more than a month later, he weighs 6 pounds, 8 ounces.

Sadly, JJ’s twin, Colt died in utero.

Kristi explained to local news why they decided to share their special wedding story: “It is the most heartbreaking thing to ever go through as a parent. Our mission behind it was to hopefully let others [know] that have been there, are there, or unfortunately one day could be in a similar situation as out, and let them know they are not alone.”

JJ’s big sister, eight-year-old Carissa, was there to help her mum on the big day.

We’re so glad to hear that little JJ is getting bigger and stronger every day, the family hope to have him home by Christmas.
