A baby boy, who has defied the odds by reaching his first birthday, has been credited with making a 'lasting impression on this world' by his incredibly proud father, Brandon,

Jaxon Buell, who was born with just half his head as a result of a rare brain developmental disorder known as microhydranencephaly, has stunned medical professionals who initially advised his parents to terminate the pregnancy.

Astounded by Jaxon's progress, doctors working on his case have asserted the child may enjoy a much longer life than anyone could have initially anticipated.

Paying tribute to his little boy who is now 13-months-old, Brandon took to a Facebook page dedicated to his brave son and updated followers on his little boy's progress.

Delighting social media users who have followed little Jaxon's case since his birth, Brandon said his son was "talking up a storm these days, truly teaching himself how to communicate with us in his own way."

Acknowledging the impact his son's arrival has had on his life over the course of the past year. Brandon wrote: "For his life, I am better, I am blessed, I am grateful, and I am quite simply, one proud 'Addy'. I love you, son. Well done, big guy #JaxonStrong."

Paying tribute to the child whose Facebook page boasts a whopping 138,000 likes, Brandon said: "No matter who you are or what you believe in, it’s clear that Jaxon’s tiny footprints will have a lasting impression on this world."

In the heartfelt post which celebrates his son's courage in the face of adversity, an emotional Brandon insisted: "He [Jaxon] has already touched and inspired more lives in one year than most of us ever will in our lifetime."

A fundraising page which was established in Jaxon's name has thus far raised $75,000.
