As any pregnant woman knows, in addition to worrying about the health of your unborn baby, an inordinate amount of time goes into choosing a name for your new arrival.

While most couples tend to be on the same page when it comes to baby names, other parents-to-be struggle to come to a decision and seek outside help in order to nail down a name for their offspring.

Some of us may seek the advice of friends and family, Nicholas Soukeras, however, has decided to go one step further.

This dad-to-be is so intent on naming his unborn child after his father, he actually created an online petition to convince his wife, Kseniya, that his choice of name was the way to go.

With almost 3,000 signatures, Kseniya has agreed that if her husband reaches 100,000 she will name her unborn child Spyridon.

In a formal document which lays out his reasoning in five succinct points, Nicholas, the petitioner, argues that he has 'the right, privilege and authority, under God and in accordance with the laws of the Greek Orthodox Church and in the tradition of all Hellenic peoples throughout the world, to name his first-born son "Spyridon" after the petitioner's father'.

Having outlined his wife's concerns in the aforementioned document, Nicholas concedes that should their child be born female, Kseniya has the right to name her accordingly.

Commenting on the publicity his petition has elicited as well as the friction it has caused between himself and his wife, Nicholas said: "All the coverage of our story makes it easier to laugh about. It's still a serious issue between us, though. It's actually a real fight."

It certainly doesn't seem like something Nicholas is going to back down on, admitting: "My blood boils when we discuss it, and one of us will usually end up walking out of the room. It's very juvenile, I know, but it's my sore spot."

So, what do you think of Spyridon?
