Everyone loves the Disney princesses, and the prevalence of little girls named Belle (Beauty and the Beast) and Jasmine (Aladdin) are proof enough of their popularity.

And as if Frozen hadn’t completely taken over, it looks like the hit movie has left a major impact on mums- and dads-to-be.

According to data collected and published by the Social Security Administration in the US, the name ‘Elsa’ has sky-rocketed in popularity over the past year.

‘Elsa’ is now in the top 500 most popular names for newborns, having landed in at number 286 on the popularity list. This is a staggering jump from the previous year, when it came in at number 528 on the list.

What is even more interesting – and satisfying, for Disney at least – is the fact that the last time ‘Elsa’ featured in the top 500 was all the way back in 1917. If that’s not a sign of the power of ‘the Frozen effect’, then we don’t know what is!

Have you followed in the footsteps of so many others, and named your little one after the beloved Princess? Or were you inspired by another Disney character?
