Asda, a British supermarket retailer, has been forced to apologise after being accused of selling faulty pregnancy tests.

According to PlymouthLive, dozens of women devastatingly received false positive results from the product.

Michaela, one of the women who used the store’s pregnancy test, was overjoyed when it falsely told her that she was pregnant.

Her and her partner had been trying to conceive for weeks, and she used four of Asda’s duo digital pregnancy tests to confirm her results.

It was not until she went to the doctor’s for a private scan, on her partner’s birthday, that she found out the truth, she told PlymouthLive.

“When we went to the scan they told me there was absolutely nothing there. No sign of an 11 week pregnancy. It was really embarrassing,” Michaela said.

She went home crushed by the news and called the company’s customer service to see what was going on.

The representative asked Michaela if she kept the packaging, “and when [she] told her it wasn't something you'd keep as you wee on it, [the representative's] response was 'You don't wee on the box, do you?'”

She said in her interview, there was nothing she could do about the situation but warn other mums and keep them from experiencing the same heartbreaking situation.

After the news spread, Asda issued a formal apology.

A spokesperson for the company responded: “We’re really sorry to hear [Michaela] feels she had a bad experience with us.

“We want our customers to trust our products and ensure all our pregnancy test comply with strict legislation and all batches are quality tested.”

Asda have yet to comment on any actions they plan to take regarding the situation.

For now, make sure to not only check your pregnancy results with more than one test but to verify them with more than one brand as well.
