Holidays are very precious to families, offering a well-earned break to Mum and Dad and giving the kids amazing memories they’ll talk about for years.

However, getting to and from your holiday destination can be quite stressful, which is why Dublin Airport has worked hard to make the experience as smooth as possible for parents.

From budget-friendly parking options to free Family Lanes wide enough for buggies at Security, there are plenty of systems in place to accommodate frazzled families.

In Terminal 1, you’ll find a specialised play area for the kids on the Mezzanine Level and a new child-friendly seating area beside Starbucks with soft toys and kids programming on the TV, guaranteed to keep your kids occupied.

Terminal 2 also has a great kids play area upstairs after you’ve passed through secruity, with both terminals boasting dedicated Family Rooms in their lounges. These rooms contain highchairs, kids TV, and toys while the lounges also offer baby changing facilities and even self-service kitchens with snacks, fruit, cereal and beverages.

If food is a priority, both Terminal 1 and 2 have a variety of family-friendly restaurants with kids menus, giving Mum and Dad the perfect chance to catch up on last minute emails with Dublin Airport’s free Wi-Fi, while their little ones fill their bellies.

When it comes to shopping, The Loop is not just for Mum to buy discounted perfume – Terminal 1 now has Candy Cloud just for kids. With 180 tasty treats to choose from and a special ‘magic hollow’ area where children can explore an enchanted lollipop and marshmallow forest, your little ones will have no problem killing some time here while you wait for your flight.

And remember, you don’t have to worry about baggage allowances when it comes to your purchases – The Loop offers a free Shop & Collect service where you can pick up your items when you get back from holiday.

Extra family services include pharmacies stocked with baby products like nappies and rash cream that you may have forgotten in the last-minute rush, and The Stork Exchange allow families flying into Dublin to rent equipment like strollers and car seats.

With their US Customs and Border Pre-Clearance facility, you arrive in the US as a domestic passenger avoiding the lenghty queues in Immigration. Add all of this to the huge variety of destinations to choose from, including summer sun hotspots like Malaga, Faro and Dubrovnik, Dublin Airport should be a family’s first stop for their holiday this year.
