Dublin Zoo is always a brilliant day out for the whole family.

And now it's gotten even better as they have announced their newest event - Wild Lights, a magical night-time spectacular.

To give you some idea of what it's all about, the theme is ‘Ocean of Light’ and it sounds absolutely divine.

Think deep blue sea, shimmering oceans, and sparkly sea creatures as Dublin Zoo will be transformed into a sea of illumination.

Visitors will get to see schools of vibrant fish and luminous jellyfish, as well as endangered species.

As well as this new event, there will also be three new areas within the experience - Winter Wonderland, Celebrating China and The North Pole.

Winter Wonderland is a snow-white spectacle where cold-dwelling creatures reside, where you will meet Dublin Zoo’s family of Arctic polar bears, dive beneath the ice with the walruses and witness the reign of the regal emperor penguins.

Celebrating China brings a flavour of the Orient. You will discover your Chinese Zodiac sign and have the chance to snap a selfie under the stunning multi-coloured parasol walkway.

At the North Pole prepare to be dazzled by the 16-metre high silk Christmas tree as well as Santa’s workshop where Rudolph will be guiding Santa’s sleigh into the stars.

How amazing does that sound?

When's it on?

Wild Lights will open to the public on Thursday, 1st November and it will run from 5pm-9pm until Sunday, 6th January.

It will be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening through November as from 1st December until 6th January, opening times will be extended to seven days a week (excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day).
