Much of Stella’s counselling and teaching work is with parents and young people, which culminated in the publication of her bestselling book, Cotton Wool Kids, by Mercier Press. Cotton Wool Kids explores why it is that parents and children are becoming excessively anxious these days, and aims to calm parents by reaffirming their confidence to raise their children according to their own values and beliefs.

She appears regularly on TV, on The Today Show on RTE 1, and on radio shows with Pat Kenny, Dave Fanning, Matt Cooper and George Hook to discuss mental well-being.

Stella gives many public talks and lectures about parenting and childhood in Ireland, mental well-being, mindfulness, conflict resolution in the workplace, and communication skills for different organisations around the country such as Cuidiú, Merrill Lynch, VTOS, Grow, the Dept. of Finance, the Dept. of Education, and the Dept. of Public Expenditure. She lectures in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Mindfulness for Laois Offaly ETB, and she presents different talks in libraries and schools nationwide. Stella works in private practice in Birr, Co. Offaly.

In her new book, Bully-Proof Kids, Stella shares practical tools for parents to help their children grow up ‘confident, resilient and strong’.

Here, Stella describes what determines whether a child may become a victim, a bystander or a bully; and offers concrete strategies to help empower them to be socially competent and deal with bullying, both online and in school.
