This weekend, our hearts are going out to the family of a New York woman who reportedly passed away while breastfeeding her infant daughter.

According to reports, 35-year-old Deanna Rose Gioia told her husband Richie was she wasn’t feeling well, and was later found unresponsive with two-month-old Adrianna still in her arms.

Deanna – who had no known health ailments, and had not suffered any complications during or after the birth of her daughter – was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead shortly after, last Sunday.

With her death puzzling doctors who tried to save her life, Deanna’s family are currently awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Following the heart-breaking loss of Deanna, who was a nurse, friends decided to set up a GoFundMe page (link here) to provide financial support to Richie and baby Adrianna.

“We would like to help Richie take care of Adrianna financially, so he can give her everything he and Deanna would have. This is our chance to give back to Richie and Adrianna, everything that Deanna gave to us,” friend Michelle Paini wrote.

So far, kind members of the public have been overwhelmingly generous, raising a staggering $67,419 in the space of just four days.

We are thinking of the family – Richie and Adrianna, in particular – at this difficult time.
