As the summer season is officially in full swing there is one thing that a lot of us are looking forward to... festivals!

Yes, tis the season for a music festival and while we’d love to rock loose bohemian waves for our weekend in the great outdoors, this isn’t Coachella and the sun is unlikely to rear its head.

Rain can wreak havoc on our manes and while it might be ‘cool’ on some runways, frizz is not a good look.

So we’ve gone on the hunt for some simple (ish) styles that won’t have you looking like a hedge at the end of a rainy day.

1. Pile high

This look is perfect for those who have a full head of curls. Don't try and tame the mane, let it go wild and embrace that big beautiful head of hair. For the full tutorial head to Refinery29.

2. Tuck in

The ultimate lazy-girl upstyle as this look involves minimal effort to achieve this boho look. And if you're doing a full weekend festival, this look is a great day-two option when everything is starting to get a little greasy. For a full tutorial head to Treasures and Travels.

3. Rollin' with the homies

You'll definitely need a bit of length for this look but essentially it's just a ponytail. After a couple of tries and a deep sigh of relief, we were able to achieve this look and boy, did we look sophisticated. For the full tutorial head to Sara Lynn Paige's blog.

4. Twist and shout

Perfect option for the short haired girls. This is essential many, many twists all pinned together into a big mess that actually looks totally amazing. Backcomb and pin as desired for this undone, rain proof hairstyle. For the full tutorial head to Brit+Co.

5. Mess it up

This is by far our favourite look of the bunch and it's pretty much just messy plaits. Yes, we know it's hard to decipher any type of plait formation but that's the beauty of this look. No hair styling skills needed just a basic knowledge of the plait and a backcombing brush. For the full tutorial head to Wit & Delight.
