About: Fota Wildlife Park is Cork’s most popular visitor attraction, and a wonderful place for a family day out. The park takes up 70 acres of the sceneic Fota Island, located in the heart of Cork Harbour, just 15 minutes from Cork City.

This park is not like your typical zoo. At Fota you can get up-close and personal with the free roaming animals and birds. Whether it’s a kangaroo or a lemur, these animals will be walking, jumping and swinging all around you. As well as array of free roaming animals, visitors can also see some endangered species like the Rothschild giraffe, European Bison, Lion Tailed Macaque and Scimitar Horned Oryx. Most of these animals are not fenced in so are wandering freely across the park.

Fota host several events perfect for kids throughout the year. The park holds activity camps, summer safari days, parent and toddler mornings, and daily events. There is also a daily Cheeta Run where the cheetas run to catch their dinner and you can see them reach their amazing speeds of 100kph for about 20 second.
