Simply round up numerous things around the house that give off a strong smell and watch to see baby’s reaction. Will they smile and keep sniffing? Or will they wrinkle their nose and turn their head? Trust us, it’s actually quite entertaining for parents too!
If you have it, try it. Some ideas include:
- Coffee grounds
- Vanilla essence
- Car air freshener
- Scented candles
- Cinnamon
- Mint teabags
- Shower gel
- Face cream
- Lavender
- Cucumber
- Herbs
- Nutmeg
- Cloves
A handy tip is to dab any liquids onto a cotton ball so baby can sniff it comfortably.
Did your little one show particular disgust for the cucumber? Or the coffee? Or for a smell that you can’t stand either?
Why not jot down your baby’s reaction to each of the smells and try again a few months later to see if their tastes have changed?
