Luas wants this summer to be one of the best ever for families in Dublin, which is why they've put together a list of activities that are fun for all the family and easily accessible by tram. With a different theme every week, you'll be sure to find something that suits you and your little ones. This week we’re looking at the great sporting activities you can enjoy during the sunnier months.

For generations, sports has been a great way to bring families together. Whether you’re football supporters, GAA die-hards or rugby devotees, there are plenty of opportunities during the summer for Mum and Dad to bond with their kids over a joint love of whatever game they choose.

With the GAA season heating up there’s never been a better time to take Luas to Croke Park. This legendary stadium is about a 15-minute walk from Connolly Luas stop. Oh and if you’d like to make your visit to Croke Park extra special, check out the GAA Museum, which opens from 9:30am daily!

If you’re more interested in soccer, then take your youngsters to see Shamrock Rovers play some of their biggest rivals in Tallaght Stadium from July. Tallaght Stadium is just a short walk from Tallaght Luas stop and can seat up to 6,000 people. It’s also very close to The Square where you can grab a bite to eat before or after the match!

Oh and for any rugby fans, you’ll be able to catch a few games at the Aviva Stadium from August when the Guinness Summer Series gets underway. Simply hop off at Stephen’s Green Luas stop on the Green Line and enjoy that beautiful stroll to Lansdowne Road. Don’t forget to grab some ice-creams for the walk!
