Acne is not just for teenagers! Many women are plagued with acne into their 20s and 30s, and have an extremely hard time finding a commercial product that treats the acne without causing dry, flaky skin. But, acne that is left untreated can lead to further breakouts and scars that can be permanent.

Why do you continue to get acne in your 20s and 30s? Sebum, or excess oil is the main cause, but bacteria and dead cells can also be the culprit. When the dead cells and oil clog the pores, it provides a perfect environment for bacteria to form and lead to back heads and white heads, which in turn become pimples.

To eliminate clogged pores that cause acne, it is vital to gently exfoliate the skin to remove the dead cells and excess oil. Here are two home acne treatment recipes that are made with everyday ingredients you have around the house. These recipes are gentle on your skin and easy to make.

Olive Oil and Apple Sauce Acne Treatment
Add one tablespoon of olive oil, one tablespoon of granulated sugar, and two tablespoons of apple sauce to a plastic or glass container and mix until well blended.
Wash your face with a mild facial cleanser and pat dry. Then using clean fingers, massage the mixture onto your skin using small circular movements. Continue to massage for one minute and rinse off thoroughly. Pat face dry with a soft towel.
