Margaret Cash was at her wit’s end when she could find not find a decent place for her kids to sleep.

The mum and her six of her seven kids - aged between one and 11 - were forced to seek overnight shelter in the Tallaght Garda Station last week.

The family has been homeless for the past year, but there was no emergency accommodation available for them to sleep in that night.

In an interview with Dublin Live, the Dublin mum explained that this was the third time she had been forced to sleep in the garda station.

“When you hear about homelessness you think junkies. You think this, you think that, but until you’re actually in that situation you’ll never know how hard it is.”

And now it seems the hard times are finally over for Margaret and her family.

The mum of seven has been offered a three-bedroom apartment from the Dublin City Council, according to RTE.

Margaret is beyond relieved to have a place for her and her children to stay.

Because it is emergency accommodation, the apartment will be available on a trial week basis for now, and after that it will switch to a month-to-month plan.

Previously, the family had a string of bad luck when the home they had been renting was repossessed.

They searched high and low but could not find any affordable accommodation after they lost the home.

Margaret decided to take action and post a photo of her children sleeping in the garda station waiting room.

It instantly went viral and gained the much needed attention her cause called for.

We were delighted to hear that the mum’s plea has been heard, and her family feels blessed to have a roof over their heads.
