Hop over to Airfield Estate for their eggs-cellent Easter programme

Easter is right around the corner and it can be hard to keep your little ones entertained over the Easter break, so why not head to Airfield Estate in Dundrum, county Dublin for a fun Easter adventure. Did you know it’s Dublin’s only working urban farm?

Airfield Estate has a number of events to take part in from guided walks, where families can learn about birds, nesting and chicks, to felt workshops, so there’s plenty for your kids to get involved in. There are even free collectable activity trail sheets perfectly designed to introduce younger visitors to aspects of birdlife. You can even learn all abouts birds’ nests and eggs at the scheduled drop-in activity station.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly place to eat then the Overends Kitchen is a great choice as they have a new family roast and child friendly menus. They do the tastiest Jersey milk lattes which go down a treat with the baked goods from Airfield’s Farm Shop.

You and your family can explore the beautiful 38-acre estate where there will be daily farmyard activities! Egg collection and Jersey herd milking are among the tasks that you can take part in. On your stroll, keep an eye out for Airfield’s Jersey calves and lambs that are sure to be skipping in the fields. The rescue donkeys, Conal and Carroll will be there too.

Take part in their garden tour where an array of vintage farm machinery is on display.

If you’re looking to do something a little more laid back, take a stroll around the ornamental and organic food gardens. There will be some tips for you to pick up along the way.
