The most common reasons that children get eye injuries include misusing toys, falling from stairs, furniture or beds, poking themselves with forks, pencils and other sharp objects, contact with chemicals, and vehicle accidents. - Remove hazards and keep dangerous items like household cleaners out of your child’s reach. Keep them in a locked cupboard or on a high shelf. Exert special caution when it comes to things like fertiliser or drain cleaner.
- Always make sure your child is fastened safely into his car seat
- Never allow your child to play in the garden if the lawn is being mowed as grass and debris can easily fly into their eyes
- Never allow your child to play with any sharp toys or toys that shoot objects into the air
- Never let your child and his friends play with sticks or sharp objects
