One common complaint about mineral makeup foundation is that it is too thin to cover all our blemishes! Many of us have redness in our skin or an uneven skin tone, and sometimes the occasional monthly spot to hide. Despite the complaints about mineral makeup, it is possible to get a heavier coverage with it.

Use a tinted moisturiser first
Apply a layer of good quality tinted moisturiser to your face. This provides an excellent coverage without being greasy, and absorbs quickly.

Apply a colour corrector to your face
Using an all-over colour corrector is great for masking large areas of redness, for example cheeks with broken capillaries. Colour correctors usually come in two shades including green to cover redness and peach to even the skin tone all over.

Use a concealer to hide blemishes
It is recommended to cover up blemishes, dark spots, under-eye circles, and old acne scars with a concealer. Using a cream concealer will give the best coverage due to its thicker consistency. A small dab of mineral foundation can also be used to cover blemishes, apply some lighter foundation to the blemish with a cotton swab and press. After you've applied face powder, touch up imperfections one more time.

Full coverage mineral foundation
Mineral foundation can give you the full coverage you require. We recommend the ‘Bare Minerals’ range which is available from Debenhams from €26. Their foundation gives you all the flawless coverage required and has a lovely natural looking finish that doesn’t clump. Its silky and soft texture looks like a powder, but it feels like a cream.
