George Clooney became a father for the first time this year.
George and his wife Amal welcomed twins into their family on June 6, 2017, but the actor revealed that he never thought he'd be lucky enough to have kids of his own.
"It's a time in my life that I didn't think I would get to experience, so I'm a lucky man," he shared.
The Descendants star admitted that life hasn’t been the same ever since Ella and Alexander were born.
He opened up about his new role as a father of twins in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.
He gushed about the twins, “They're four and a half months old, they laugh at goofy faces and fart sounds, they're the best audience I've ever had.”
However, there is one thing George wasn’t prepared for- changing nappies.
The former ER star revealed that he underestimated how difficult changing nappies would be, especially since the twins have started on solids.
“I think we're at the precipice. I don't think it's going to be as fun. And I'm only relatively good with the diaper changing.”
George shared that he often laughed at his friends who complained about changing nappies, “I used to say to my friends, "What's the problem, this diaper thing is easy!"
He shared: “This new transition, it's changing everything.”
The actor said he wouldn’t change any aspect of parenthood, even the smelly nappies, “It's my job. What's the point of being a parent if you don't get your hands dirty? That's what it's all about.”
George shared that there are times when parenthood leaves him feeling completely bewildered, “I can't really understand just how fully formed they are as human beings. Five months ago, they weren't here.”
His son and daughter are already completely different people, despite being a few days shy of five months old
“They're both very different; he's this little thug, this out-there personality, and she's very sweet-natured and dainty,” he said.
George is looking forward to seeing his children grow and develop their personalities as time goes by.
“This is who they're going to develop into and grow up to be, and we as parents just have to try our best not to mess them up.”
The dad understands that there is a huge pressure on children with famous parents, but he doesn’t want his children to feel overwhelmed.
“I want them to be happy and healthy and safe and it's our job to safeguard that to the best of our ability.”
“And after that, it's like rolling the dice”, he concluded.
