If it’s a feel-good story you’re looking for this morning, it doesn’t get more heart-warming than this.

A mother was left completely shocked when she welcomed a baby into the world earlier this month – four years to the day that her late daughter entered the world.

According to TODAY, Aleece Geist had no idea that she was pregnant, until she began experiencing abdominal pains on August 4.

She was rushed to hospital, where doctors were quickly able to diagnose the root of her pain: she was pregnant.

‘Perfect’ baby Mira was born later that day, tipping the scales at six pounds and seven ounces.

The surprise was extra-special, as it all played out on the day when Aleece and her family usually commemorate her daughter, Zen.

Little Zen was just five months old when she passed away three years ago, on New Year’s Day. She was hospitalised after being struck down with an ear infection, and the family was left devastated when she died of ‘undetermined causes’.

On August 4, Aleece, her eight-year-old son Zekeiah, and the rest of their family pay tribute to little Zen with a special ceremony. They set paper lanterns free, and they send candlelit boats down a river in a local park.

This year, however, they never made it to the park – because Aleece was bringing baby Mira into the world. Instead, next month, the family will gather for a very special joint ceremony, honouring Zen’s passing and Mira’s birth.

Speaking to TODAY, Aleece said that while Mira’s birth was ‘a complete and total shock’, it is a blessing.

“I never knew what I would do with another child or how that would go because of what happened with Zen,” she told the site.

“That’s one thing – I’m glad I didn’t have to sit and think about it for nine months…I guess it was just meant to be.”

We’re wishing Aleece, Mira and the entire family all the best with the beautiful journey ahead. For more info, you can check out their story on YouCaring.
