Former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh has said being a mum is the greatest thing that's ever happened to her.
The mum-of-two understands that parenting can be a demanding and overwhelming part of life but she is enjoying every minute of it.
Kimberley spoke to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV chat show about her young family.
She did admit that she is suffering from a serious lack of sleep, “All the mums I know, we spend most of our entire day talking about sleep deprivation.”
The singer says her sons struggled to sleep through the night, especially when they were newborns, ““My two boys both didn’t sleep until 6 or 7 months and they’ll still wake up teething.”
She spoke about how intense motherhood can be, especially when you have your first child. The 35-year-old said, “There are days where you think I’m literally just surviving this day, but tomorrow will be better.”
Kimberley says taking things one step at a time works well for her. One other thing that has helped her handle motherhood is her strong friendships, especially with fellow band member Cheryl.
The mum-of-two spoke fondly of new-mum Cheryl, who gave birth to son Bear back in March. The Fight For This Love singer and her boyfriend and former One Direction singer Liam Payne are also enjoying every moment of parenthood.
Kimberley said she tries her best to organise playdates with her friends, including Cheryl. She believes being around people who are in a similar situation to her helps a lot.
The chart-topper said, “It makes it easier if you’ve got friends who are doing the same thing at same time. It’s lovely. All my best and closest friends have all got babies.”
Kimberley spoke fondly of her sister, who also has young sons. She says her sister has been a huge support and inspiration, “My sister has three boys so we have five between us. There’s a lot of babies around and we’re all in it together.”
The mum admitted that her house can look like a creche at times, especially when she invites all her fellow mums around, but she said she loves being around her friends and their little babies.
“It’s like a creche basically, but so much easier as a mum to share those things”, said the pop star.
Kimberley gave birth to her first son Bobby on September 4, 2014. She welcomed her second son Cole at the beginning of the year.
