In a household where three out of four people eat cereal for breakfast the Kelloggs Mini Max Trial was a welcome change from our regular cereals. Current firm favourites include Weetabix and Weetabix Crispy Minis.
My husband enjoyed the Original Mini Max and Multi-grain Shapes. He found the chocolate flavour Mini Max too sweet.
The two boys tried all three, needless to say the chocolate flavour Mini Max was their firm favourite. They eat their cereal dry, without milk. The bowls were emptied in no time and the box of cereal didn’t last long.
I would prefer if the boys ate healthy cereals for breakfast, not just cereal with lower sugar content but also cereal with good fibre content. The Mini Max range lives up to this standard and is a cereal that will be on my shopping list in future.
Thank you to Mummy Pages and Kelloggs for giving us the opportunity to take part in the trial.

I always purchase Kellogg’s cereals for my family – the kids like Rice Krispies, my husband eats Corn Flakes and I like Bran Flakes (I also enjoy the occasional bowl of Frosties in the evenings!)

I think fibre is so important and I always try and give my kids whole grain rice and brown bread to improve their fibre intake. I have Bran Flakes every morning which I know is great for fibre but my kids don’t like Bran Flakes so I’m delighted I now have a high fibre option for them in the mornings with Mini Max.

I have always thought cereal and a piece of fruit was an excellent way to start the day. I know some people are concerned that there is too much sugar in children’s cereals, however I do not think this is the case with Kellogg’s breakfast cereals. Breakfast is one of your 3 main meals, and even the chocolate cereals, for example Kellogg’s Mini Max, only account for 8% of the recommended daily sugar allowance. That means that your other two meals and snacks account for 92% of your sugar intake. So in my opinion the sugar content in this children’s cereals is actually quite low.

I am delighted that Kellogg’s fortifies it’s cereals with important vitamins and minerals. I find it so hard to ensure my kids get all the vitamins and minerals they need so it’s great that Mini Max will now provide them with a great start to the day. I was also happy to discover that Mini Max is low in saturated fats and salts.

Everyone in the house tried out the Mini Max cereals. Myself and my husband had a bowl in the evenings while the kids had both flavours for breakfast over a course of the two week. The kids LOVED the chocolate flavour while myself and my husband preferred the original. I have to admit I found them addictive…they are so tasty and I couldn’t help but have a small bowl as a snack in the evening.

I definitely think that the Kellogg’s brand is synonymous with breakfast and a good start to the day.

Cereal is a HUGE thing in our house, and not just for breakfast either, it’s a great supper time snack too. We normally have Rice Crispies, Sultana Flakes, Crunchy Nut and Special K (when mum is on her ‘being good’ diet, which starts every Monday morning), the kids get CoCo pops as a treat –I like a mix of cereal in the house, so we get a good balance of the ‘good’ healthy stuff and the ‘treat’ stuff. We do tend to buy Kelloggs, I guess it’s something we are all familiar with, it works so why fix it. In my house, Breakfast = Kelloggs. It just does.
I want the kids to have a healthy filling breakfast that is a good source of fibre and vitamins and I know Kelloggs fortify their cereals with vitamins and minerals, which is a great thing. I do take notice of what salt and sugar is in cereals and it’s nice to see that Mini Max holds up really well in comparison to other cereals, and with less sugar than others too. That said, I’m really not overly concerned about this, there is sugar and salt in almost everything you can think of, but because I know that I encourage and provide a healthy and balanced diet, I’m happy that my kids are not overindulging in anything. Everything in moderation.
I was delighted to be selected for this trial, and I wasn’t disappointed with Mini Max. There are 5 of us at home, me, hubby, 1 boy and 2 girls (although one of the girls is only 4 months, so she wasn't involved.
Day 1 – we tried the ‘Original Flavour’ and we all really enjoyed it. I was a bit surprised to be honest, I thought the kids wouldn’t go for it (especially since they knew there was a chocolate flavour in the press) but they loved it and went in for a second bowl too. Me and the hubby really enjoyed them, and I was happy to snack on them that evening too ... had them in a bowl (no milk) watching TV. Really nice, healthy snack.
On Day 2 we tried the chocolate flavour, and found equal success. We all really enjoyed them. So I can’t tell you which one we enjoyed the most, they were both loved. Sorry, LOL

Thanks so much for letting us do this trial, and thanks for introducing us to Mini Max – they are now a firm favourite in the house and on the shopping list.

First of all I want to say thanks to MummyPages and Kellogg's for letting me take part in the trial. I was delighted to be given the opportunity to try out Kellogg’s Mini Max and the kids were very excited to help review the products

I have always bought Kellogg’s cereals. We tend to switch our cereal every few weeks. Bran Flakes, Rice Krispies, Special K and Coco Pops are the most popular in our house. I like my kids to have a balanced diet so I reserve the chocolate cereals for the weekend.

Since having kids I’ve become very conscious of the ingredients in food, and often check the side of boxes to make sure my little ones are getting plenty of good stuff. I’m very careful with salt and sugar, and was delighted to see how low both these are in Mini Max in comparison to other cereals – which is a surprise considering how tasty they are!

I also think it’s great to see that Mini Max is high in fibre. I have to admit I struggle to get enough fibre into my kids’ diet. They hate wholemeal and brown bread (why I don’t know!). I sometimes try to substitute white pasta for brown pasta but they can really taste the difference and usually won’t finish the brown pasta (in fairness, I much prefer white pasta myself so I don’t blame them). So knowing that Mini Max appeals to kids AND has plenty of fibre is great news! I’m also happy to know vitamins have been added to Mini Max.

Mummy, Daddy, and kiddies tried both cereals. Kids loved both cereals while myself and daddy preferred the original. Chocolate Mini Max is now going to be our weekend cereal while original Mini Max can be for weekdays.

We buy Kelloggs Rice Krispies & Corn Flakes & Fruit & Fibre & Special K on a regular basis. I did not realise they Kelloggs did not make breakfast cereals for anyone else. I try to have high fibre cereals as I believe breakfast is the fuel to start the day. I dont normally like chocolate cereals but the kids love them, i dont feel this is a 'healthy' breakfast even though there is goodness in the cereal. Hard to say to the kids you cant have chocolate for breakfast when they are on the cereals - ie they love Coco Pops but I rarely buy these. Kelloggs seem to have branded all their cereals showing what vitamins and minerals etc is in them and easy to see whats what. Low in saturated fats & salts is very important as I often feel cereals and other foods alike have hidden extras, ie lots of sugars to encourage kids to eat them. Myself and my 2 kids tried all the cereals. I preferred the Mini Max original - very tasty, right size and feel eating somthing healthy. My 10yr old daughter preferred Multigran Shapes because "they taste so nice and sweet and they make me feel happy, i like the shapes". My 4yr old daughter preferred the Chocolate Mini Max because "they are very nice and I like the taste of the chocolate and the little chocolate bits inside, they are very yummy". When you think of breakfast and cereals the Kelloggs name is always the one at the forefront
