About

The public library service for Galway was established in 1927. Today, its book-stock is in excess of 200,000 . The service is delivered through a network of thirty Library Branches and a mobile library. All branches open on Saturday and provide public Internet access. Also, in co-operation with An Post, they deliver books-on-tape to the visually impaired. This service is free. In addition, they provide primary schools with reading material. The Archives section houses information on Galway's history including a newspaper collection that dates from the 1790s.
