About

The Cockleshell Gallery, situated in Duncannon's Elizabethan Fort was opened in 1998 with the aim of promoting the arts in this corner of the South East. Since it's inception the gallery, formerly known as The Cockleshell Arts Centre, has proven it's ability to produce quality exhibitions in the form of Paintings, Sculpture and Photography. While their main arts scene is the visual arts they are also involved with the performing arts. In 1998 this non profit organisation introduced The Demon Drummers project to Duncannon with the assistance of the Wexford County Council Arts department and W.O.R.D. They also introduced the now renowned International Sand Sculpting Exhibition to Duncannon's blue flag beach. The musical involvement would be represented by an annual choral recital with either Wexford Male Voice Choir or the New Ross Singers. It is also planned to introduce more musically based workshops.
