About
This castle was built in 1568 at the strategic locations where Newry River and Carlinford Lough meet. It was built by Hugh de Lacy who was the first Earl of Ulster and was used to prevent attack on Newry. The castle was destroyed in 1641 due to the rebellion. The castle is open in July and August on Fridays from 10am to 6pm.
