St Marys Cathedral

St Mary’s Cathedral is located in Killarney town centre and was designed by Augutus W. Pugin. The cathedral is thought to be his finest work and is designed in English Gothic style. The construction of the cathedral was finished in 1855 but was stalled for 5 years during the time of the famine. At this time the cathedral was used as a fever hospital. Refurbishment of the cathedral rook place in the 1970’s and the interior was fully restored. The original beautiful stained glass windows still remain.
