About
Sligo Abbey was founded by Maurice Fitzgerald in the 13th century and is a Dominican Friary. There are several carvings on site including Gothic and Renaissance tomb sculptures, cloisters and a 15th century high alter, the only one to survive in any Irish monastic church.
