After being stuck indoors for the past week or two, you’ve decided it's finally time to leave the house with Baby. As you think back to your baby-free days, you figure it won't be that difficult to venture out into the world, but oh no. If this is the first time you’ve left the house with Baby in tow, you might not realise there are a few stages to actually getting out of the house!
In fact, for most of us, you spend longer trying to get out than you do actually being out.
Deciding to leave
After a couple of weeks spent feeding your baby, changing nappies and very occasionally sleeping, you've decided you're ready to get back outside! You have been working yourself up to this day for a while now. Your new mantra is: "you are a strong woman and you can do this!"
Doubting whether you can do it on your own
You can't stop thinking about the saying, "it takes a whole village to raise a kid". Can you really face the world outside your front door with your newborn on your own?
Deciding on whether to bring the buggy or wrap
It's your first time and you can't decide whether you need to bring the buggy or just the wrap. In the end you just grab both, just to be safe!
Checking the car seat at least five times
You can never be too cautious. Ever.
Packing the baby bag
Socks, blankets, soothers, hats, suncream, seriously the list is endless. If you could fit the kitchen sink in, you’d totally bring it!
Checking Baby looks the part before leaving
You can't have the neighbours cooing over your darling when they aren't wearing their cutest outfit!
Timing it around nap-, feeding- and play-time
You've got a ten minute window - go, go, go!
Do you really need to go?
Yes, yes you do!
Realising you’ve forgotten your phone half way down the road
Not only do you have to back up, but now you need to take baby out of their car seat, carry them into the house, turn off the alarm, find the phone and then secure baby in again. Do you really need to go back for the phone?!
