We are calling out to mums all over Ireland to host a Shine a Light PJ Party with your children and their friends in aid of Focus Ireland’s work to help prevent families from losing their homes. Now more than ever Focus Ireland needs the help of the community and a pj party is a great way to have fun and to help us raise much needed funds.
Hosting your Focus Ireland pj party is so easy with so many fun things to do!
- Give you party a theme; such as movie night, cupcakes and milkshakes or pyjama heroes - the children can dress up as their favourite superhero or Disney character!
- Pick an area in your house for the party and fill your party room with pillows, blankets, bean bag chairs, and stuffed animals for a comfortable "hang-out" space. Hang twinkling light strands all around the party area.
- Make a guest list and don’t forget the invitations
- Make a list of activities for your party – here’s a few ideas to get you started:
- DIY sundae bar for dessert with ice cream, marshmallows, sprinkles and wafers and snuggle down to watch a movie.
- Arts and Crafts; get a few inexpensive pillow cases and the children can decorate them and take home as their party favour.
- Musical Pillows, just like musical chairs!
- Sleeping Bag Relay - make your party even more fun. You’ll need two sleeping bags placed at one end of the room. Zip up the bag and have open at the top, divide the children into two teams and the first child in each team races to their sleeping bag. They have to get right into the sleeping bag and then out again. The child races back to their team, ‘tags’ the next child in their team when then races to their sleeping bag. The first team to finish wins.
And don’t forget, if the idea of a sleepover is a little too daunting or the children aren’t ready to spend a night away from home why not host an evening PJ party with your planned activities and the party guests go home at bedtime to sleep in their own beds.
