With so many sad stories filling up our newsfeeds each day, we need to celebrate all of the positive ones – and that of little Nicolly Pereira is one of our favourites.

Little Nicolly was born blind and deaf, and was diagnosed with paediatric glaucoma. She spent the first two years of her life unable to see and hear – a story which touched and broke hearts all over the world.

Desperate for their little one to enjoy the sights and sounds of the world around her, Nicolly’s family arranged for her to undergo a staggering seven different surgeries – but, sadly, none of them worked.

Worried for the future, Nicolly’s mother, Daiana, decided to share her tot’s story online, in the hopes that some kind stranger would come to their aid.

Nicolly’s story soon grabbed attention all over the world, after being shared via the 'Princesinha Nicolly' page, and finally, good news arrived.

After deciding to help little Nicolly, the Jackson Health Foundation’s International Kids' Fund and the Kevin Garcia Foundation raised a whopping $17,000 – enough for the family to afford a pioneering new treatment for the little girl.

Incredibly, the treatment worked, and Nicolly can now see and hear!

The following video, shared online by Daiana, shows the amazing moment that Nicolly saw her mother for the very first time.

Just try to hold back the tears while watching this.

SHARE to brighten someone’s evening.
