For every mum who gets through breastfeeding without any trouble, there are at least ten who find it really difficult.

Something that 2FM DJ Louise McSharry has had firsthand experience of.

The mum-of-one opened up about how she found nursing son Sam tough, admitting that she actually feels quite sad it didn’t work out.

"I think it's important to say it because before I had Sam, I was so determined,” she told the Irish Independent.

“I'm a bit sad that it didn't work out the way that I hoped it would, that we don't have this beautiful feeding relationship."

Such a cranky face!

However, the 33-year-old has said that she has found satisfaction with combination feeding, going on to reveal that her eight-week-old baby is now thriving.

"I really wanted that but it wasn't happening and I had to make a decision based on what was right for both of us.”

Louise, who is married to Gordon Spierin, honestly admitted to have been a little “judgey” before she gave birth, questioning if people who found it difficult were even trying hard enough. Something that she says she feels like an idiot for saying.

“I might have thought, 'oh people don't try hard enough or whatever,' and having done it now, I feel like an idiot for ever having thought that.

“It is so difficult and I think every woman has to make a decision for herself."

Louise and Gordon announced that they were expecting in a lengthy blog post where Louise spoke about her struggles to conceive.

Having beaten Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, she was told the chances of her getting pregnant were very low.

"A few months after we started trying, I got pregnant. We spent the seven weeks between finding out and going for a scan in total disbelief, barely telling anyone, and trying not to get our hopes up,” she wrote at the time.

“This wasn’t meant to have happened!"
