This Autumn/Winter, The Ark has some really lovely events for kids. The Ark, a cultural centre for children located on Eustace Street, Temple Bar, will be focusing on stories, writers and illustrators for the midterm.
 
The Telling Tall & Tiny Tales experience (for ages 2 – 12) will return to audiences with lots of new books, original arkwork, stories and activity sheets to enjoy, and series of workshops. This event is taking place from October 29th – November 2nd and every weekend in November. During the midterm break there will be Halloween-themed storytelling at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm every day, scary audio stories and spooky books to read. Kids are invited to dress up in their Halloween costume.
 
Halloween storytelling with Niall de Búrca is taking place on October 31st at 3pm. Niall will tell delicious stories of tingling terror. Entry is free and tickets are available from 2pm on Wednesday October 31st on a first come first served basis with Telling Tall & Tiny Tales experience tickets.
 
Skulduggery Pleasant Extravaganza at the National Gallery of Ireland is taking place on October 31st at 1pm. This event is suitable for 8 years and up and entry is free. Advanced booking by email is essential to akenny@ngi.ie. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear the author, illustrator and editor in the Gallery lecture theatre talking about Ireland’s Book of the Decade. Everyone is invited to come in fancy dress, or dress as a Skulduggery Pleasant character.
 
Gigantic illustration workshops with Niamh Sharkey will take place on Saturday November 3rd. Ages 4-6 (10am & 11.30am), ages 7-9 (2pm) and ages 10-12 (3.30pm). Niamh and her team of guest illustrators will create large scale original illustrations that will form part of a giant storybook for display in The Ark.
 
Make a mini book workshop with Jole Bortoli takes place on Saturday 10th and 17th November. Ages 4-6 (12pm), ages 7-12 (3pm). Children can create a gorgeous miniature book with artist Jole, then fill it with pictures and words to tell the story of what reading and writing means to you.
 
PJ Lynch illustration workshops will be taking place on Saturday November 24th. Ages 5-8 (12pm) and ages 9-12 (3pm). PJ is well known for his gorgeous illustrations of A Christmas Carol and The Snow Queen, and will teach you how to illustrate your own wintery story.

Tickets to the Telling Tall & Tiny Tales experience are €4 (adults go free) and tickets for workshops are €10 (€8 concessions).
