We have heard quite a few dramatic birth stories in our time, but this woman deserves a medal for what she went through before, during and after delivering her daughter.

Amber Pangborn has made headlines all over the world for surviving incredible conditions after giving birth to her daughter in the wilderness.

The 35-year-old was driving to her parents’ house when she decided to take a shortcut, but ended up running out of petrol and going into labour.

Poor Amber gave birth to little Marisa all alone in a wooded area, and with no phone service, she was resigned to setting up a camp for the pair.

Shortly after, the pair were forced to flee, after insects began to swarm the area. Amber recalled: “I thought we were going to die…And there was no cell service, there was nothing…I tried to not get them to sting her…I wasn’t sure if we were going to actually get out of there.”

After suffering several stings while trying to defend her daughter, Amber set up camp elsewhere, where she survived on just a can of soft drink and three apples.

Growing desperate, Amber decided to start a fire in order to signal for help, but sparked a ‘forest fire’ with her hairspray and lighter.

“The whole side of the mountain caught on fire. I was looking at Marisa and was like, ‘I think Mommy just started a forest fire,’” she said.

Thankfully, US Forest Service officials arrived on the scene shortly after to tackle the fire, and Amber and Marisa were saved.

What an unbelievable story – thank God Amber and Marisa are okay.
