A mother and her almost 100-day-old baby are said to have ‘beaten the odds’ after one of the most traumatic birth stories we have ever heard.

According to local news in Missouri, doctors were forced to deliver baby Bethany Mueller 100 days early after her mother suffered cardiac arrest and slipped into a coma.

Michelle’s husband Mike, a paramedic, knew straight away what was happening when the mum-of-two woke up ‘gasping for air’ one night almost three months ago. He called 911, then carried out CPR on his wife.

By the time Michelle reached hospital, she was in a coma, and doctors opted for early delivery to give her baby the best possible chance of survival.

Baby Bethany – who was named by her big sisters – weighed just two pounds when she was born.

Thankfully, mum Michelle woke up a day-and-a-half later, suffering only short-term memory loss. Indeed, she kept forgetting that she had already given birth.

With both Mum and Baby now thriving (Bethany now tips the scales at seven pounds), the family have spoken out about their ordeal.

In an interview with local media, relieved mum Michelle said: “It definitely makes you appreciate what you have. It puts a new perspective on life, that’s for sure.”

Thank heavens both mother and child are doing so well.

SHARE to amaze a mum with this incredible survival story.
