If there’s one category of story that we love, it’s multiple births – especially where records or stacked odds are totally broken. But while we delight in these charming stories, there’s no doubt that the parents themselves must go through a roller-coaster of emotions.

This is something that North Carolina mum-of-four Kimberley Fradel can attest to, after welcoming identical triplet daughters into the world last month.

Kimberley and husband Gavin, who are also parents to a two-year-old son, welcomed little Stella, Grace and Emily, having been told at their eight-week scan that their tots would smash odds of one-in-a-million.

As excited as Kimberley was to meet her girls, excitement came second – to blind panic.

Recalling the moment her doctor told her she was expecting identical triplets, Kimberley told local news outlet WTVD News: “She had a look on her face, and... I could tell something was wrong, ‘She said, 'I think you're having multiples. I think you're having triplets.' My first response was, 'Oh, God, no. Please, God, no.' Then she said, 'And I think they're identical.’”

“For her, it was really great to see, and exciting. But for me, the excitement came - but my first feeling was sheer panic,” she added.

We’re sure there are plenty of parents out there who can agree, with logistics and practicalities automatically entering your minds upon hearing news like this.

Although the couple’s son, Gavin Jr., initially asked his parents to ‘take his sisters back’ to the hospital, the family are absolutely besotted with their ‘genetic miracles’!
