A new mum was asked to leave a cinema after she took her 11-week-old daughter to a screening of a 15-certificate film.

30-year-old mum Sam Ross said she was left “humiliated” when she was told she was ‘breaking the law’ by taking her baby to comedy Bad Neighbours.

“It was totally humiliating,” she said. “We were escorted out. I was really looking forward to watching the movie and catching up with a friend.”

The new mum said it had been hard for her to find time to socialise since she had her young baby.

Sam said, at just 11-weeks-old, her daughter is ‘totally oblivious’ to what’s going on and would have just gone off to sleep.

“If she was screaming and interrupting everyone I would totally understand and would never stay in the cinema, but she was completely fine,” said the mum

Mrs Ross revealed that she did receive a refund from the Vue cinema in Cambridge in the UK.

A spokesman for Vue said small children were only allowed in to U, PG and 12A-rated films, in accordance with official guidelines.

However, they added, “On this particular occasion the customer should have been advised that babies are not permitted into 15 certificate films and declined the sale.”
