Leap Day 2016 brought with it a range of joyful and, in some cases, coincidental stories – but none more unbelievable than that of Meagan and Chris Erickson.

The couple, from Minnesota in the US, have made headlines after welcoming their second Leap Day baby – on their third Leap Day spent in a maternity ward.

The Ericksons’ story started all the way back in 2008, when they welcomed first child Alyssa into the world, on Leap Day. They found themselves back in hospital at the same time in 2012, with Meagan giving birth to second child Janessa just 10 hours shy of Leap Day that year.

In an unusual twist of fate, baby number three made her appearance on this year’s Leap Day, and she now shares a birthday with older sister Alyssa. While the couple have not yet decided upon a name for their newborn tot, they told Fox 9 that they are learning towards Victoria.

Speaking to the news channel, mum-of-three Meagan said: “I spend Leap Days in the hospital having babies. Three Leap Days in a row, now.”

Meanwhile, dad Chris seems to have picked up on a trend in the Erickson household: “Father’s Day seems to be a good day at home for us. I never thought we’d have one, let alone two, almost three on the same day.”

That is quite a story to tell at parties!
