We have heard of some pretty dramatic birth stories in our time, but we can’t imagine how shocked and panicked this mum must have been after going into labour in a shopping mall.

A British woman welcomed her child in dramatic fashion just over a week ago, going into labour while watching the Christmas lights being switched on at a local shopping mall.

According to the Mirror, Laura Allen was at Intu Uxbridge to see Brian McFadden perform at the occasion when her waters broke.

Laura, who had been in the hospital earlier that day with contractions, was in the shopping mall’s lift when her labour began. She rushed to the bathroom on the ground floor, and there, shop assistants and family helped to deliver a baby girl.

Baby Skylan Coker was born on Sunday, November 22, eight days early. Proud dad Curtis also just made it in time to cut the cord!

Recalling the dramatic birth to the paper, mum Laura said: “Curtis wasn’t even there as Skyla was born, as I’d travelled in his brother’s car while he’d got the bus to the shopping mall. His sister Tiffany basically delivered the baby on her own thanks to what she’d learned from One Born Every Minute.”

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after Skyla’s birth, and after a brief hospital stay, Laura and the family returned to the shopping mall to thank all those who helped with Skyla’s birth.

“We feel quite close to them now, with them having been there during the birth. They all adore her and want us to take Skyla in to see them every time we’re in the area,” she added.

What a story to tell Skyla in the future!
