There is sad news this afternoon, as it has been confirmed that a man has died after an ambulance exploded in the Emergency Department of Naas General Hospital.
According to a statement released by the hospital, the Emergency Department has been temporarily closed with a number of patients being taken to “alternative hospitals”.

A full investigation is underway and the hospital is asking the public to “refrain from visiting”.
A man in his 70s – a patient being taken to A&E - has sadly passed away, and two paramedics are said to have been seriously injured – one is currently in intensive care with serious burns.

The ambulance caught fire as it approached the Emergency Department at around 2pm, and a witness told TheJournal.ie that "there were lots of bangs and explosions."
