When you are due to give birth, the drive to the hospital can be tense and worrying, but you could never in worst nightmares expect to go through the ordeal that Nicola Kinnier experienced earlier this month.

The 31-year-old was experiencing contractions when the car her partner Kevin was driving ended up in a collision with a lorry. The accident was so bad that Nicola had to be pulled out of the wreckage and rushed to hospital.

Once there, doctors performed a Caesarean-section on Nicola and delivered the couple’s son, Hunter. The tot was born healthy and weighing in at 6lbs 14oz.

After the Hunter’s birth, on April 18, Nicola was then treated for broken ribs. She was discharged from hospital a week later.

Speaking to the Mirror after her traumatic ordeal, Nicola recalled: “Immediately after the accident, I feared for my baby’s life as I couldn’t feel him move and my contractions seemed to recede.”

“I am just thankful that Hunter was delivered healthy. We are all just happy to be home and out of hospital,” she added.

Thank heavens there was a happy ending to this story.
