New Pampers research reveals 74% parents say disrupted sleep impacts mood

World Sleep Day takes place on 15 March and aims to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of healthy sleeping patterns. Quality sleep is essential for good mental health, but for new parents it can be challenging to get a night of undisrupted rest. According to recent research from Pampers, 42% of parents in Ireland say their baby wakes up more than once a night.

Poor and disrupted sleep caused by their baby frequently waking at night impacts the mood of almost 3 in 4 (74%) of parents. The research also reported 2 in 3 (66%) say disturbed sleep from their baby wakening affects their relationship or mood with their partner and more than 1 in 4 (30%) stating it affects their mood or relationship with their work colleagues.

Pampers innovative Stop and Protect Pocket™, available across their Pampers Baby Dry pants and taped range, is designed to prevent major nappy leaks at the back of the nappy and protect baby's sleep (and parents' too!). It offers 360° fit that adapts to baby’s tummy to help prevent gaps and leaks and its super powerful core absorbs liquid instantly to keep baby's skin dry for up to 12 hours.

Sleep expert and author, Lucy Wolfe, says that while night wakening is common, there are many factors that can help support better sleep for your baby: "Night wakening for a baby is common however we can support better sleep with regularity, suitable sleep environments and sleep rituals. Every family is different, and you should always do what's best for you and your family, but there are many things you can do to encourage better sleep.

It's also important to remember that sleep patterns can take time to become established and vary from baby to baby, with changes as they grow, so trust yourself. Pampers' Baby Dry Stop and Protect Pocket with its 360-degree fit helps prevents leaks and is an ideal way to help avoid the dreaded nighttime poonami or nappy leaks, meaning everyone gets a better night's sleep."

James-Michael O'Brien, Ireland Brand Manager, Pampers said: “For more than 60 years, Pampers has been developing products which support the happy healthy development of babies. We know that sleep and comfort is vital for growing babies and the value of sleep is equally important for parents to prevent them feeling tired throughout the day.

World Sleep Day is a perfect opportunity to remind parents that while baby waking up is normal, waking up because of a nighttime poonami isn’t. Pampers Baby-Dry nappies with the Stop & Protect Pocket prevent night-time poonamis and the disruption they cause; saving both babies and parents from disrupted sleep and protect your baby's skin too."

Pampers Baby Dry pants with Stop and Protect are available from all leading supermarkets nationwide. For more information on Pampers and sleep tips, see www.pampers.co.uk or follow the conversation online, @pampersuk_ire.
