Working from home can have it benefits but your office space plays a huge role in making it a relaxed and useful environment.
If you only have a limited amount of space to deal with the following ten tips will ensure you optimise the area as much as possible.
Shelves
Secure a few shelves to your wall and use it to store books and notes.
Keep your floor clear
A floor covered in notes, or even one with a large rug in the middle can make the room feel smaller then what it is. Go for wooden floorboards and keep it clear and clutter-free
Have a small desk
Don’t get a bigger desk then you need to. If you are only going to be putting your computer, printer and some stationary on it then you can go for one that is a little more compact giving you extra space in the room. Alternatively go for a wrap around desk or one that has a pull out shelf for extra workspace.
Utilise all spaces
Make sure you utilise all space in the room like under your desk where you could store a small filing cabinet or boxes with important documents in it.
Secure wires to the wall
A home office is going to have a lot of wires from the computer, phone and printer lines but by securing them to the wall you will not only be preventing a risk hazard you will also be keeping the floor clear, making it look spacious.
Lots of mirrors
Give your room the illusion of space by putting mirrors on your walls. This will also help to brighten it up.
Keep it simple
Keep the amount of furniture you have in there to a minimum to keep pathways clear and clutter-free.
Put a shelf over the radiator
Utilise the space over the radiator by putting a table over it.
Give the room height
Give the illusion of height by choosing vertical lines on the walls and going for tall furniture.
Make the room feel wider
To make your room feel a little wider go for horizontal stripes around the room to give the illusion of width.
