These parents received some unusual parenting advice.

When Steve and Jessica Rold went to collect their 2-year-old son from crèche, they brought along their baby girl.

And the childcarers could not stop doting over their daughter, commenting on how adorable she looked.

The parents were well used to this, as most are who have a new baby, but what they weren't used to was the unsolicited opinion the carers shared.

The childminders gave the couple some uncalled-for parenting advice, suggesting that they dress their daughter more ‘girly’, according to Babble.

This way, they explained, other children in the crèche would know that their baby was a girl.

Instead of reacting to the comment immediately, the couple kept their cool and decided to respond in style.

The parents cheekily dressed their daughter in all blue the next morning. Jessica then drew up a lovely bow on a post-it note and stuck it to her daughter’s forehead.

Steve shared a photo of his daughter’s bold outfit on Reddit with the caption: “How my wife dressed our daughter the day after the teachers at daycare told her we should really be dressing her more like a girl.”

Other dads commended the couple for their creative comeback and quickly responded with similar stories of their own.

One father, Tom Dawson, shared his experience against gender stereotypes.

“My kid's maternal grandmother recently had a sh**fit that he wore too much pink and had his hair too long because ‘you're just confusing him’, ‘he's clearly a boy’ and ‘it's going to screw him up’

“Really tempted to send her the video of him taking a free ballet taster class and having a great time jumping about because three-year-olds don't give a f***.”

Another commenter said: “I have boy girl almost three-year-old twins. My son goes to daycare with all girls. He loves trucks, sports, riding bikes..doing boy things but he also insists when my wife and daughter get their nails painted that he gets his nails (toes as well) painted. It’s pretty funny to see and we get a lot of comments on it from strangers but hey, he’s happy.”

It appears that Steve and Jessica are not alone in being told unwanted parenting advice about their child's gender-influenced, fashion choices.

The parents are delighted with the feedback their bold response received, and they seem to be on the same page about the situation. As long as their baby girl is happy and comfortable in her clothes, then so are they.
