Gordan Stuart and his wife Kristy have signed up to complete two very different, yet equally EPIC challenges to raise much-needed money for the Tiny Lives Trust, a charity supporting the special care baby unit (SCBU) in Newcastle’s RVI.

Gordan, who plans to travel the length of the UK in less than 24 hours, and Kristy, who aims to run 365 miles in a year, know all too well the incredible work that the charity does after their daughter, Islay, was born six weeks early.

The couple’s story can be seen in a new film commissioned by Tiny Lives to show a premature baby’s journey through the SCBU, and the important and vital care they provide.

26-year-old Gordan, who has already got the name The Arctic Rider after he rode 6,000 miles to the Arctic Circle two years ago, is looking for sponsorship to help him complete his challenge.

Talking to Chronicle Live, he said: “Being able to combine my passion for motorbikes with raising money is win-win for me. Every penny donated goes to my charities. Costs for my trip are funded by me or my corporate sponsors and I ensure that my adventures raise far more money than they cost.”

Talking about her challenge that will cumulate with the Great North Run, Kirsty said:  “I am not a typical runner, or, in fact, a runner at all, so this is a big challenge for me. I have joined beginners running club in Whitley Bay, which is fantastic. It’s going to be tough but every penny I raise is going to support the Tiny Lives Trust.
