Gardaí have issued an urgent appeal to the mum of baby ‘Belle’, who was found dead on a beach in Balbriggan on Saturday, December 15.
They have stressed that the woman is not in any trouble whatsoever. They are just gravely concerned for her health.
Detective inspector Brian Downey told Morning Ireland that there is no criminal investigation underway. The health and safety of baby Belle’s mum is their number one priority.

“The girl or the woman who gave birth is not in trouble… There is no criminal investigation,” he stressed.
They have urged the mum to seek medical treatment, “Please come forward… You do need medical intervention. You need medical help.”
He added: “Our only concern is the health and wellbeing of the mother. We don’t need to speak to her, but we do need to know she’s okay. That she is safe… She is receiving the medical intervention she requires.”

The body of baby ‘Belle’ was found on Bell’s Beach in Ballbridgan at 10 am on Saturday morning by a woman who often cleans the beach.
Gardaí have confirmed that there was no foul play involved in the death of the baby girl. It is understood that she was stillborn.
The mum of baby Belle has been encouraged to contact the Gardaí directly, or a medical professional or the Tusla 24-hour line at 081877631.
