We recently heard the incredible story of a mum who was awoken from her coma by her newborn baby, and this latest report is just as astonishing and heartwarming.

Colvina Jolina has been credited with saving her unborn daughter’s life – while unconscious in a coma.

According to reports, Colvina fell into a coma after suffering a stroke and collapsing in her home while 23 weeks pregnant.

The West Sussex-based mum and her child, a girl, were given just a 10% chance of survival by medics at the Southampton General Hospital.

In an incredible turn of events, while surrounded by family, Colvina managed to point to her stomach to alert those around her bedside that something that not right with the baby.

Colvina’s partner Matthew immediately picked up on the clue and rushed to get hospital staff, who returned to find that the mum’s heart rate had dropped and her baby was not getting enough oxygen.

Medical staff proceeded to perform an emergency Caesarean-section, and little Maia was born shortly after, weighing just 3lbs.

A week later, Colvina came out of her coma – and immediately knew that she had given birth. “I can’t explain it. I knew straight away she was mine,” Colvina later told local media.

Maia has now made a full recovery and is thriving.

What an incredible story. It just goes to show how powerful the bond between a mother and her baby is.
