Now that we are officially in summertime, our poor, pale skin will finally get to see a little bit of daylight!

However, considering we have been hiding away under a blanket of woolly jumpers and hoodies, our skin might be closer to blue than anything resembling normal!

If you are planning on putting on a little false tan to complement your outfit, you will need to prep your body properly:

The day before application:

1. Remove any dry areas and flaky skin by exfoliating your entire body. Invest in a nice smelling body scrub and a loofa to give your body a deep clean.

2. Don’t forget to moisturise, generously applying it to your elbows and knees and any other particularly dry areas.

The day of application:

1. Rub in more moisturiser, an hour or two prior putting on the false tan. This will ensure soothe, dry skin yet shouldn't affect the tan's ability to soak in.

2. Before you put any tan on, rub a little petroleum jelly on your eyebrows to stop them getting stained by the product.

3. Use a glove or mitt to apply the tan, working on different sections at each time. Don’t apply a load of lotion immediately you can build it up to a stronger colour by rubbing on another application after the first dries.

4. Remember to go lighter over your knees and elbows as the tan will look darker in drier areas.

5. Wash your hands immediately.
