Thousands of mothers are taking a stand after a women was forbidden from breastfeeding in public by police.

 

Coni Santos sat in a park and breastfed her nine-month-old son when he started crying because he was hungry.

 

A little while later, Coni was approached by police officers who asked for identification and went on to tell her that breastfeeding in a public place was illegal.

 

The mum was shocked as police told her she could be taken into the station if she did not stop.

 

Posting about the incident on social media, Coni received huge support within a few short hours as mums decided to organise a protest.

 

Thousands gathered on Saturday in a public park in Argentina at an event called “La Teteada Masiva” (“The Massive Breastathon”) which saw mums simultaneously nursing their children.

Model Evangelina Anderson showed her support for the cause when she shared a picture of herself breastfeeding.

Actress Griselda Siciliani’s Instagram post was deleted by the website after her picture of her nursing her son was said to be in violation of their terms of use.

 

Two news anchors also decided to breastfeed their babies live on national television while reporting the news.
